Micah Gampel is a Canadian photographer who has been living in Kyoto Japan for more than 2 decades. His passion for photography was inspired by his father’s collection of great photo books, particularly of Picasso by photographers Doisneau and David Duncan. Trying to imitate them at the mere age of 12 using his first camera (a Kodak Brownie), he realized he had a natural love and a talent for photography.

Before making the leap to the digital age in 2005 he experimented with Japanese cellphone technology, which was the catalyst for his ongoing self portrait series. In Micah`s words, “I will always make time to work on interesting projects be it corporate events or art performances, pre-wedding portraits and anything out of the ordinary”.

2004年から日本の携帯電話を使用してセルフポートレートシリーズを撮り始めた.
マイカの 願いは、「私は企業のイベントや芸術公演やプレ結婚式の肖像画など独創的なものを写真で表現したい。」
